I look forward to the Met Gala every year because the fashion is always incredible. No looks are off limits and they are always extravagant. I have narrowed down my favorite looks of the night and the two that I wish would have never made it onto the carpet last night.
5. Emma Stone in Thakoon
What I love most about this outfit are the colors. The soft pink mixed with the bright, bold pink of the skirt is beautifully matched together. Emma's hair and makeup are so soft, allowing her natural beauty to really radiate. Although I find it at touch boring seeing as it is the Met Gala, she looks incredible.
4. Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney
Yes, yes yes. Cara never disappoints with her Met Gala outfits. I love the fresh look of the pants (something that not many women wore last night) and the strappy top really shows off her body in all of the right ways. The hair is SPECTACULAR and is done in such an elegant way that it really dresses up her casual pant. She looks flawless. It's simple but still holds an edge. Its a refreshing look from the sea of gowns I saw last night.
3. Suki Waterhouse in Burberry
I have a weakness for blush colored dresses, this one being no exception. The tiering of the frilly fabric and the bold red of her lip gives off nothing but sheer elegance. This was one of the first looks I saw and I immediately fell in love. The earrings are the perfect accent and the bare neckline really allows all of the focus to be on the dress.
2. Beyonce in Givenchy
THIS is what a Met Gala look should be! Beyonce always slays the Met Gala and wore Givenchy again this year, let's never forget her look from last year. I love the sheer fabric that is draped beautifully and the entire silhouette of this - it shows off her curves that we all know and love. The dark look and beaded veil really add on to this gothic look. I am OBSESSED. She can do no wrong.
1. Liu Wen in Zac Posen
I saw this gown and nearly cried. Not only is the color BREATHTAKING, but the dramatic construction of the ground is perfect for this event. It holds a look of sheer classiness, but the pointed neckline and bigness of the skirt gives it the perfect animated appearance. The simple black clutch and the pulled back hair allow for all eyes to be on this dress, as they should be. I cannot get enough of it.
Honorable Mention:
Emma Rossum in Caroline Herrera
It's such a refreshing color and print from all of the other looks that were seen last night. Its a GORGEOUS color that flatters her pale skin tone and I will always have a weakness for floral print. Emmy never disappoints at the Gala.
Rihanna in Stella McCartney
Ugh, Rihanna in white (or red) is probably my favorite thing ever. She is slaying this look. It's sexy, but elegant and fits her body so beautifully. I love the high neckline that allows for a little bit of detail and the drapery in the back of the skirt is perfect. Her hair adds a little bit of a casual feeling to the look, I love the messy look of it.
Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung
She doesn't have the best track record with carpet looks, I have never really been of fan of what she's worn in the past. However, I love this monochromatic gown - the fit looks wonderful on her and I love the little peek-a-boo cut out at the bottom so you can see her heels.
Worst Dressed:
Rita Ora in Donna Karen Atelier
Just why? I thought maybe it was the over the top strappy heels, but then I realized I just hated the whole thing. Rita is such a beautiful woman, but I don't understand this gown. It's draped weird and I don't understand the tulle that is sticking out in random places. And what is that arm wrap? Just no. No. No. No.
Shailene Woodley in Rodarte
I am still staring at this dress, wondering why it exists. The sheer fabric at the bottom is beautiful, but the metallic silver fabric at the bust just throws the whole thing off for me. The different colors of this just don't match or mesh well together - it's very harsh on the eyes. She has such a wonderful figure and I don't think this dress is the most flattering. She doesn't look her age!
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
