2015 Fall Couture Coverage: Part 2

Viktor & Rolf
July 8th, 2015
There wasn't another collection like this. From the color palette to the innovative idea to create the pieces with the allusions of broken picture frames is genius and really keeps the eye focused on the overall concept of each piece. While all of the designs have unique shapes, they still manage to stay feminine with the lines created, as well as with the contrasting fabrics. The strong middle part, slicked back hair and light makeup compliments the heavy construction of each piece extremely well.

The colors shown in this collection are what struck me the most. I love the blues, greens and purples used with the blacks. The 80's inspired makeup and styling with each look added a flash of color to all of the pieces. The versatility shown in this collection is strong - from feathering to sequins and everything in between, the use of embellishments brought this collection to a whole new level. It's fun and it's sophisticated.

Elie Saab

I'm always a sucker for anything Elie Saab and this collection is no exception. It's rich, it's indulgent and the detailing once again is the driving force behind each piece. As a collection that screams Elie Saab, he still manages to constantly reinvent himself every season. I would wear all of these gowns - the jewel tones are extravagant and paired with the beading detail makes for a flawless gown.

Giambattista Vali

This was probably my favorite collection from this couture season. The retro 60's feel of the overall collection had me over the moon. The pastel colors contrasted with the blacks is my favorite color combination. The large gowns are unique with the color and fabric choices, but classic with the silhouettes. As someone who wasn't a fan of Vali's last season collection, this has definitely caused me to fall in love again.

Valentino

All hail, Valentino. I look forward to his collections every season especially when it comes to couture season. The envelope is always pushed, but the overall concept of each collection is strong and shows through each piece. The red velvet dress is one of my favorites - it's simple, but so incredibly beautiful. The lace work and color choices throughout the collection take it to the level of sophistication that Valentino is known for. I just can't get enough.
