Let's just say, she has come a long way. I have been a fan of Nicole Richie's for YEARS. I watched every single season of The Simple Life when it was on TV and couldn't help but laugh at her crazily inappropriate humor.
However, while I was drawn in by her humor and personality, her fashion sense back in the day was never anything I was too fond of.
2003 was rough. I think in general, it was just a bad year for fashion and Nicole definitely fell on the worst dressed list on multiple occasions that year (and years to follow). I don't even think I need to go through and explain what is wrong with these outfits.
But as she grew up, turned her life around and became a mom - Nicole has easily become on my biggest inspirations for style.
Her casual style is always so simple and so tailored, I can't get enough of it. She pairs together simple items and really creates a look that is both age appropriate, but still has her own personal vibe in it. One thing I adore about her style is that she wears a lot of neutrals that I am all about and every single look always looks so comfortable. Comfort is everything.
I am not a huge jewelry fan, but I love how Nicole adds a statement necklace or a small bracelet or ring to add a little something to the outfit - she doesn't over do which keeps the look really sophisticated rather than tacky - I find that layering on to many necklaces or wearing too many rings kind of brings down an outfit and makes it look, well, tacky. It's just too much!
Along with her red carpet looks, she really lets her dresses speak. She doesn't go over the top with flashy dressy, but let's some skin show with really strong silhouettes. These are a few of my favorite carpet looks Nicole has had over the year - a lot of celebrities tend to hit the carpet with really flashy dresses that are sore to the eyes, but Nicole goes for the simplest forms of outfits and adds her own flare with jewelry and a good clutch bag.
And let's just talk about the hair. Nicole's lilac and current blue hair are perfect colors for her. Nicole has had a ton of hairstyles over the years and these have by far been my favorite. The colors truly suit her personality and really pop against her normal monochromatic looks.
My love for Nicole is currently kicking into overdrive with the premiere of her new show Candidly Nicole. It's wickedly funny and I can't help but relate to the things happening and being talked about on the show. Candidly Nicole airs weekly on VH1!
