I am going back and forth between red carpet and runway fashion at the moment, but I recently looked at some looks from this year's SAG Awards and while there were very few looks that WOWed me, there wasn't a single look that caused me to ask "what were they thinking?"
Top looks of the night:
Emma Stone in Dior
I love this classic look. Emma has been wearing a lot of masculine and tailored pieces that are styled incredibly well. The pulled back hair, pop of red lipstick and heavy earrings balances her top half with the dramatic train and silhouette of the dress. This is a very different and unique way to the little black dress and I love it.
Rosamund Pike in Dior
I really dislike high-low gowns, but I love this for some reason. The dramatic flow and tiering of the skirt looks so elegant even though the dress does look quite heavy -this is such a step up from her Globes dress this year which I was not a fan of in the slightest. The rose appliques give the dress a little more depth, keeping it from falling into that boring black dress category. My favorite part of this look is the contrast between the extremely formal gown and laid-back hair styling, it gives the look a good balance and well, I just adore her hair so much.
Felicity Jones in Balenciaga
This is my favorite look of the night. The color is so incredibly beautiful and looks great with her skin tone and I love that the long, vintage earrings were the only pieces of jewelry in this look. It is incredibly simple, but still carries on Felicity's red carpet style as a classic beauty. She may be one of my favorite red carpet fashion celebrities of this award season - step aside Lupita.
Honorable mention:
Claire Danes in Marc Jacobs
As one of my all time favorite red carpet beauties, this isn't my favorite look Claire has ever worn to an event, but I am overly obsessed with the color and cut. It really shows off her figure and the deep forest green is spectacular.
Keira Knightley in Erdem
Erdem has become of my favorite designers this past year and this deep purple color is THE color for Keira. She is glowing in the middle of her pregnancy and her relaxed hair is paired perfectly with this incredibly lacy and tiered dress.
Sarah Hyland in Vera Wang
This look grew on me after looking over it a few times. Sarah has clearly had an amazing red carpet year and this is yet another look that is age appropriate and incredibly youthful. I am a huge fan of the appliqués on the top of the dress and her makeup fits perfectly with the color scheme of the dress. I just wish those earrings weren't there! There is so much shiny detailing on the top that I wish she was wearing small matte earrings.
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
