Award season is starting and I am so excited. Eepp.
Top looks of the night:
Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Carolina Herrera
I was a little unsure about the yellow. but the entire styling of this look is incredible. The makeup is light with a natural pink lip and the messy waves of her hair make this look elegant, but not overdone. This is probably my favorite dress I have seen on Jenna and she really stood out because I can only recall maybe one or two other yellow dresses from the night!
Kate Hudson in Versace
Kate Hudson is one of my favorite red carpet celebrities - especially during this past year, she has been killing it. This dress is very sexy, but she wears it in such a classy way. Kate has been wearing a lot of white dresses lately and I've always loved them on her. The design of this dress fits her body so well and shows off the hard work she has been doing since having her kids!
Sienna Miller in Miu Miu
There is something so unique about this gown that I love. The embellishments and cut definitely caused it to stick out on the carpet and I am so glad Sienna has simple hair and simple makeup. With the added details on this gown, this look could very easily have been overdone. The champagne color compliments her skin so well and this entire look makes her look so youthful.
Claire Danes in Valentino
The second she hit the carpet and I saw her in Valentino, I got so excited. This gown is from Valentino's SS15 collection that I talked about (here) during this past fashion week. Claire Danes has consistently been one of my favorite red carpet celebrities and this look did not disappoint me. Again, the makeup and hair are done simply, allowing for the dress to really do the talking. Now, the details on this dress are so amazing and the overall construction and color palette of this gown caused me to fall in love with it during fashion week and I am so glad Claire decided to wear it because it fits in perfectly with the Globes and the detailing enough turns heads.
Lorde in Narciso Rodriguez
Lorde's current pantsuit craze is something I have been loving. Wearing them onstage, offstage and now at award shows - all hail Lorde's pantsuits! While the pantsuit look can sometimes age a person, the youthful crop top really allows for Lorde's age to shine through. Her fashion is so simply, but works so well. The pop of color with the red lip and that gorgeous necklace around her neck leaves this look dressy enough for the award show, but still suits Lorde's style so well.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Miu Miu
The color of this dress is to die for. I love the bare neck, short hair and strapless dress - she looks incredibly feminine and the design of this dress holds such an ageless style to it. Maggie has had some ehh moments on the carpet for me, but this is without a doubt one of my favorite looks on her. Again, it is kept so simple and natural which really allows for her true beauty to come through and she is just radiant.
Dakota Johnson in Chanel
I am normally not a HUGE metallic and sequins fan for reasons I still don't understand, but this dress fits her incredibly. The skirt and train almost look like liquid and the simplistic design allows for the material to really carry the entire dress. Dakota's curled hair allowed for a glimpse of old Hollywood and kept her from looking to bare at the top. It is so age appropriate and the simple strappy heel doesn't take anything away from the dress.
Honorable mention:
Amal Clooney in Dior Haute Couture
When I heard that Amal was wearing white gloves, I almost cringed because I do not like white gloves of any sort. In the end, however, her entire look so was simple and truly classic. You can't go wrong with a black dress.
Felicity Jones in Dior
Felicity has such an old soul and it really shows through with this gown. The color is INCREDIBLE on her - it causes her wonderful complexion to pop and she looked timeless last night.
Emma Stone in Lanvin
Again, I love the pantsuits and the beadwork on the top is wonderful with the little pop of color in the beading. I do, however, just feel like this look is missing something and I still haven't been able to place my finger on it!
Kate Mara in Miu Miu
Again, Kate Mara always seems to make my list of best dressed somehow. I always look forward to seeing what she is wearing on the carpet and she didn't disappoint in this red Miu Miu number. The belt and frills gave it more of a casual feeling, but her slicked back hair and gorgeous clutch gave it just the right touches it needed to be award show appropriate.
Worst dressed:
Tina Fey in Antonio Beradi
I hate cropped gowns more than anything - they just look tacky. From the black cut outs to the odd placing of the beading on the front - this look is just all wrong.
Rosamund Pike in Vera Wang
I absolutely adore this color of dress on her and of course, the skirt is draped beautifully, but the top is all wrong. It just doesn't fit her right! She has such an amazing body and this just makes her look wide and it doesn't flatter her at all.
Lena Dunham in Zac Posen
I am not even surprised she made my worst dressed list again. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, I didn't even enough this gown on the runway, but the entire styling is all wrong. There is far too much red! Between the gown, the shoes and the red lipstick - it's all too much, too matchy matchy and it clashes! This dresses doesn't give her figure any sort of shape! We will get 'em next time, Lena.
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
