So, no outfit post today because I am scrubbing around my house reading all day. However, I did want to share with you guys some of the current songs/bands I am jamming. I even made an 8Tracks mix so you guys could listen instantly! Check it out --------> here.
Along with the mix, I am going to talk about four of my current favorite albums I think you all should check out.
1) Blessthefall's Hollow Bodies - Over the past year and a half, I started getting into the post hardcore/"metalcore" type bands because they are just so much fun to photograph. I first started listening to them when I met their lead singer, Beau, last September and he was the nicest guy. Then this past summer, I caught up with one of their guitarists and the excitement he had over the weeks towards this album's release was infectious because I found myself becoming really excited as well. These guys worked so hard on this album and the finished product is nothing short of amazing, their best release yet. When there are musicians in a band that are so grateful for their success and fans and they put so much hard work into something, its impossible for me not to support it. Their sound is heavier than the last album, but the lyrics are relatable to just about anyone out there (see "Deja Vu" and "See You On The Outside"). Even if you aren't a fan in this genre of music, I highly encourage you to give this a listening to.
2) Like Crazy Soundtrack - Though I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, Dustin O'Halloran has a few tracks on this soundtrack that make the whole entire soundtrack incredible. As well, I am slowly getting into classical music and his arrangements are perfect for when I am reading or winding down for the day. They are like nothing I have ever heard before to be honest. Like other composers out there, he is able to tell a story through a song that is less than two minutes - a slur of piano notes that leave me in a trance.
3) Oasis's (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - This is a classic album. If you have never listened to it, you are doing something wrong. This album probably goes on my list of top ten favorite releases of all time. It holds the quirkiness that Oasis possesses while still having a plethora of good tunes to listen to at any time during the day. Most of you have probably heard "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova", but all of you should listen to the album from start to finish. It will blow your mind. Music like this just isn't release anymore. They are such simple rock songs, but have so many layers underneath them. I really wanted to add the entire album to the playlist because it is just one big piece of art.
4) Decker's Clean Hands EP - This is my latest music discovery. I had heard of Belle Histoire, Jane Smith's other band before ago and I always loved them. I didn't know she had released an EP until my friend Teri's music website did an acoustic session with her. I instantly fell in love. Most of the time when artists release their first EP, I feel so-so about it - probably only like one or two of the songs. With Clean Hands, however, every sing songs nails it. Jane's voice is so unique and the composition of the songs (especially "Better") are so different than anything in the genre I have heard. I cannot wait to see what comes from Jane next, she is one of a kind. The world can always use more sweet love songs, am I right?
