VMAs Best Dressed List: Top 5!

I look forward to award shows of any kind just to see the fashion! There as a lot I loved (and even more I hated - I am looking at you Miley Cyrus) so I narrowed down my favorite looks of the night to five!

#5 Mary Lambert - She is such a gorgeous individual and has been near and dear to my heart for years (Washington represent). This dress flatters her body so well and I adore the sparkles. Her hair (I love the color) goes so well with the entire outfit because the dress makes her look fancy, but the casual hair didn't make her look out of place at the VMAS. The makeup is so simple and the strong red lip really ties it all together. She sparkled (literally) onstage when she joined Mack and Ryan onstage for "Same Love" - you can never go wrong with a gold sparkly dress.

#4 Selena Gomez - I am not the biggest fan of hers, but she rocked this dress with her killer body. Its so out there and its beautifully cut with the slit at the end and the open front. The dark blue color goes great with her skin tone and hair color. The detail of the open chest is beautiful and really gives the dress an extra something. The only thing I wish she would have done differently is her hair - she wears it straight too much! It would have been nice to see a little wave action or something because the hair is too casual with the big dress she is wearing (and she was constantly moving it out of her face). As a newly 21 year old, the dress is perfectly suiting for her age.

#3 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - These two always look incredible. I may be a little bias (Northwest grown folks), but I love the mint color of Mack's suit - its my favorite! He is always pushing the envelope with his style, but never manages to miss a beat. Ryan has always had a laid back style and the simple white tee and jacket suits him perfectly. For me, what I love most is that Mack and Ryan's outfits always show off their personalities. Both of them were definitely the best dressed males of the night (as they should be - they went home with four moon men!) I am so stoked for these two and all of the success they have had this past year - they deserve all of it. 

#2 Holland Roden - I am slowly becoming the biggest fan of hers. This outfit would have almost been too dressy for me for this event (the VMAS are pretty casual), but the fact that the skirt is also pants allows it to work for me! The top part is beautifully beaded and her bright red lips look incredible with the outfit's colors. Normally, I hate open skirts with pants (I think it looks tacky), but Holland works this so well. And the simple slicked back hair allows eyes to focus on the beautiful outfit as well as her gorgeous face. The color flatters her skin tone so well and the light eye makeup is perfect for the event setting.  Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

#1 Ellie Goulding - Ellie was the first person I saw on the carpet and was the only outfit I could think about for the rest of the night. The high neckline, open slit and sleeveless style of this dress shows of her incredible body in all of the best ways. The spikes (which I love) give it a really young and fresh element to the outfit which is perfect for the VMAs. The simple, messy hair was the perfect choice - anything else would have made it look like she was going to a fancy award show. I wish I had this dress. The color of it is perfect because it shows off her tan skin and doesn't clash with the crazy amount of spikes. With the simple colored shoes, this outfit hit it out of the park for me. (Although Ellie could wear a paper sack and still look flawless).
