For this year's American Music Awards, there were few looks that really tickled my fancy so I narrowed it down to my three favorite looks of the night and the one look that I wish had never happened. Enjoy!
3. Kesha in Michael Costello - I have never been the biggest Kesha fan, but I love how she has begun to dress very mature and sophisticated. This simple black dress fits her body perfect and allows just the right amount of skin to show with the huge slit. I will always be a fan of a good black dress and I love that this entire outfit was blacked out with the shoes and dress. And let's talk about THE HAIR. I love the subtle pastels and the simple styling - it all blends together so, so well. Less is more in my opinion and the perfect balance of class and edge is represented here.
2. Ariana Grande in Dolce & Gabbana - In this age, I hardly ever see young celebrities dressing their age. Ariana looks beautiful in this dress. The night was her's once she took away the Best New Artist Award and this whole ensemble really suits her. I love the simple cut of the dress and deep color paired with the classic curls and minimal jewelry. I would probably HATE this dress on anyone else because I am not a huge fan of glittery dresses, but Ariana looks like a million bucks.
1. Taylor Swift in Julien MacDonald - She is FINALLY switching it up. If I saw her in one more floor length, cocktail style dress I was going to die. She looks so HOT in this. The second I saw her on the red carpet, I knew she was going to be one of my favorites of the night. This dress hugs her body SO WELL and although the cut is very provocative, it doesn't look so scandalous on Taylor. The strappy gold heels were the perfect pairing and I love how the hair is SIMPLE. It really allows the eyes to focus in on the dress and this dress does the opposite of aging her. I have noticed with Taylor that she tends to dress really old for her age (look at her VMAs outfit this year) when she is young and should be wearing more youthful and age appropriate looks. I hope Taylor starts wearing more of these rock style dresses, she needs to leave her 20's dresses at home for a bit.
Now, this next post pains me. As a previous Woman Crush Wednesday of mine, I never thought she would be on my worst dress list, but, come on.
Kelly Osbourne in Rami Al Ali - KELLY YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. When I saw her on the carpet, my heart instantly dropped. Kelly normally wears such form fitting, curve hugging dresses, but this makes her look like she is going to prom. The silver coloring is just too much! The poof is too long, the pattern of the sleeves give me a headache - it is just a mess. This dress just does not fit her body well at all, it looks like she walked into a fabric store and it started to swallow her whole! Now, I am all about the monochromatic looks, but she needed some sort of color in there to at least break up the grey color! Her nude shoes do not fit with the look at all and this entire dress just shouldn't have been made.
I will give her a little wiggle room for redemption because her hair looked FLAWLESS (the gold spikes and grey dress don't work well for me though), but everything else about the look was a mess.
