As you can see by how chaotic my room is at the moment, my life is pretty chaotic. This results in me literally throwing on a pair of jeans and running out the door to class and work. Today, however, my morning class was cancelled and I had time to get ready (and buy my Arctic Monkeys tickets)!
Now, I mentioned this in a previous post this week that I am not going to be doing as my outfit of the day posts as I used to because I don't give myself enough time to put together a proper outfit and I really want to focus on other types of posts, mainly dealing with hair and makeup products/styling.
I kept it rather simple today with a black shirt and blueish/purple high waisted skirt. It was rather sunny out, but still quite chilly and while I prefer to wear mostly black, I decided to break up the color with the skirt and also added a belt to keep the skirt fit.
Black is a color I wear all-year round so by adding a bright scrunchie and a skirt with different colors and a pattern, you can break up the color and make it more appropriate for the season. Plus, I am always a fan of anything high-waisted.
I used to wear this skirt A LOT last year and managed to find it while digging through my drawers a few days ago. And surprisingly, I got it at Target and it was rather inexpensive! Target always has really cute skirts for the spring time and most times, they come with belts as well! It's a steal!
I have been on the hunt for a pair of black chelsea boots for AGES and was about ready to drop seventy dollars to get my hands on a pair. But one day, I went with my cousin to Old Navy and bomb, I found these lovelies on the clearance rack. I fell in love instantly. Chelsea boots are the PERFECT boot style for the spring time. They are short, cute and fun and work with any outfit!
I am currently having a hair crisis after a dyeing sessions didn't go as planned. Despite telling myself not to do it because I knew how it would turn out, I mixed violet hair dye with conditioner and then added pink dye to give it more of a lavender color. As a result, the pink clung to my roots while the rest of the color settled into my hair. The pink dye has now caused the top of my head to turn pretty yellow so next week when I go home for Easter, I will be re-toning my hair in efforts to revive the color.
The best hair advice I can give people who are trying to temporarily dye their hair:
If you mix colors together, be aware that the colors are going to stick to your roots the most because your scalp is generating the greatest amount of heat, causing the dye to cling to where it's the warmest.
Pink and reds are VERY pigmented so be careful when applying it to your hair! If you only want a temporary dye to last a few washes, definitely dilute it with conditioner!
