The 1975 stopped in Seattle last night as they continue their way around North American this spring. I didn't initially plan on attending the show, but as some of you know from my blog, I really do enjoy their music.
I first heard about The 1975 from John O'Callaghan of The Maine who always had them on his Spotify playlist way back in the day (probably almost two years ago?). Ever since then, I have been hooked.
They ended up doing an in-store signing at one of my favorite record stores in Seattle so my friends and I ended up going to that after I rushed to get an Uber and get down there in time to pick up wristbands.
They didn't allow for photos, but I managed to make dear Matty laugh when I failed to figure out which CD booklet was mine. As well, George and I bonded over hair and Ross enjoyed my "cardigan" (he couldn't remember what it was called).

I feel like The 1975 get a lot of flack for reasons I will never understand, but they sure as hell know how to put on a show. Their show in Seattle was sold out and the energy was so high. I could probably watch them a hundred times and never get sick of them. It was literally one huge dance party.
I give so much respect to musicians who take the time to meet as many fans as possible. While was waited for a while, Matty was the only one that came out while we were there (Ross and Adam came out later I heard). He was slightly drunk and a little tired, but he stayed to meet probably 150 fans that waited after the show and was so friendly and kind the whole time.
I will always have a soft spot for touchy, drunk British boys who say the word darling and love.
"I'm a wee bit unstable. Thanks love."
Everyone in The 1975 are so incredibly nice and are so talented. For those out there that haven't given their music a chance, I highly suggest you give it another listening to.
I remember this summer, my friend Matt and I were talking about The 1975. He said that if you could place money on bands like stock, he put all of his money on The 1975 for 2014.
He is definitely right on that one.
Needless to say, I am still in recovery from last night.
In regards to their fan base, I didn't know that they had such a high population of young girls that listening to their music (cough cough blaming the kid with the shaggy hair in that one boy band). There were so many girls under the age of sixteen at the signing that I was looking around, wondering if I was even in the right place. (I also didn't get the short shorts, white Converse, flannel memo either). Awk.
Oppp and hair is now purple.
Hope all is well.

so lucky! they're here a month ago and I never went to one of their show hopefully next time :))
ReplyDeleteHopefully you will see them next time! They put on a great show!
