This is the first year where there wasn't a single look on the VMA red carpet that caused my jaw to drop. The looks on the carpet, for many, were safe, boring and even trashy. So instead of making a list of who I thought were dressed well (Kendall Jenner, Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus, Jourdan Dunn and Luke Hemmings of 5SOS at the top), I decided to make a lovely list of looks that I thought were terribly wrong.
Ariana Grande in Moschino
I love Jeremy Scott and I love Moschino, but I HATE this. I am still really confused on what type of look Ariana is going for. Is she still trying to be all innocent or is she actually going to act her age? I will give her credit - her voice is killer, but this entire outfit is just trashy. I may like it a little bit more if she got rid of the thigh high boots and let her hair completely down for once. I am glad she changed her look up from the frilly dresses that used to frequent the carpets, but this look doesn't suit her and it definitely makes her look like she is trying too hard.
Demi Lovato in ??
I love the color of the dress, it really suits her skin tone and hair color, but the cleavage is too much. If the dress had been brought in and her chest had been lifted more, I think the look would have looked a lot better. That dress just isn't meant for her chest! I was getting ready for there to be a nip slip at any moment. It is just far too open and throws off the balance of the outfit - a lot of fabric at the bottom and not at the top. I may have enjoyed the dress if Demi's hair was longer and was able to mask the amount of skin that is being shown on top. It's just all wrong in my opinion.

Katy Perry and Riff Raff in Versace
Everything about this completely wrong especially because they thought they could execute matching denim outfits as amazing as Justin and Britney. This couple is a train wreck and this entire look is just terrible. There is far too many embellishments and I really just want to rip that choker off of her. Britney and Justin barely pulled off this look so why did they think they could do it? Just no. I really don't think I need to point out how much of mistake this was.
Oh please higher power, let the Emmys be far greater.
