Oscars 2015

Alright, this is about to one big post because I was OBSESSED with so many looks on this year's Oscar carpet.

Top looks of the night:
7. Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab
She finally ditched the metallic and high leg slit gowns she has been wearing for the past decade. She looks so elegant in this gown that I almost didn't recognize her because it's such a different look from what she was worn lately on the carpet. I love the simple slicked back ponytail and the clean, simple makeup. The gown is so extravagant that it needed to be balanced with minimal makeup. The fit of this dress is wonderful - from the embellishment at the top to the full skirt, this fits her body wonderfully.

6. Emma Stone in Elie Saab
She reminded me of old Hollywood with this gown. The color is so unique, but still so beautiful. It looks almost green one minute and gold the next. I am so happy that Emma went for a dress that has color because this past season, she has been wearing a lot of neutrals. The gown is so embellished that her soft waved bob really compliments the high neck and long sleeves well.

5. Margo Robbie in Saint Laurent
Yes. Yes. Yes. I love a simple black dress. I would wear this gown any day and any time. This entire look really works for me. The gown fits her wonderfully and the soft smokey eye and bold red lip really goes with that loud statement necklace that was added on. She was one of the first celebrities I saw on the carpet and I just fell in love.

4. Julianne Moore in custom Chanel
Julianne's red carpet style this season has been all over the place for me, but this was definitely her WOW moment. The dress is so detailed and incredibly tailored, I just adore it. It fits her like a glove and the pinned up hair really allows the focus to be on the dress. She went for minimal jewelry which keeps this look from looking too heavy with jewels - it all just works. This dress took me a while to really enjoy, but the longer I looked at it, the more I fell in love.

3. Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent
My two favorite things - Dakota and Saint Laurent. The second I saw her on the carpet, I knew it would be one of my favorites of the night. It is just so simple, but so incredibly put together. Her casual ponytail paired with this beautiful red gown just works. Dakota has always kept it pretty simple on the carpet and this was definitely a wow moment for her. The cut of the gown shows off her wonderful figure and you could tell she was comfortable in it throughout the night.

2. Rosamund Pike in Givenchy
Rosamund has become one of my favorite red carpet celebrities and this dress is my favorite one she was worn all season. The red is so rich and bright, the cut of the dress fitting her body perfectly. I am normally not a huge fan of red shoes paired with a red gown, but the small and thin straps of the shoes definitely keep this look from having too much red. Going for a nude lip with this was a good decision because normally a red lip gets paired with a red gown and for something that is as detailed and extravagant as this, I am glad they went for a nude lip. She just looks so effortless, this will definitely be one of my favorite award show looks of the year.

1. Keira Knightley in Valentino Couture
Some people may disagree with this decision, but my jaw literally dropped when I saw Keira. This gown was one of my favorites from this season's Valentino Couture line and she wears the gown so well. It's a rather untraditional look for the Oscars, but I don't think there is any other actress that could wear this dress like she could. Her lightly done hair and makeup really gives this look a natural, earthy vibe and her natural beauty really shines through. I just can't get enough of it!

Honorable mention:
Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford
She was at the LA Tom Ford show a few days ago and a part of me was hoping she would wear Tom Ford and she did! This dress is so clean and simple, but Reese really does look like a classic star. The casually tossed hair and simple smokey eye really lets her natural beauty shine through.

Suki Waterhouse in Burberry
She is just another classic beauty. I saw this dress on the Burberry Instagram and thought it was the most perfect red in the entire world. Suki is hardly wearing any makeup and her simple hair really allows for the dress to speak for herself. The entire look is so elegant.

Jennifer Aniston in Versace
Versace is such a hit and miss with me and I normally only enjoy Gwen Stefani in it. This gown, however, fits Jenn so wonderfully. From the color to the overall weaving of fabric and embellishments, this dress may look simple from afar, but up close, there are so many things to see.

Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad
My absolute favorite thing about this look is how they paired the dark maroon lip with the pastel blue dress - the color combination is not one I would have really thought about. This gown fits her beautifully and the soft old Hollywood curls keep this look fro appearing overdone.

Worst dressed:
Nicole Kidman in Louis Vuitton
Did she get the memo that this is the Oscars? God, this entire look is so wrong. The yellow holographic fabric and the bright red sash across the waist is just a mess and looks nothing, but cheesy. I cringed when I saw this on the carpet.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph & Russo
Ralph & Russo have consistently been on my worst dressed lists this season and this one definitely deserves its place. Gwyneth, we aren't twelve anymore. Please lose the fairy godmother gown. The pink is terrible and the huge flower and one sleeve drive me insane. Just no. Not to mention, the over the top earrings. Were those necessary?

Felicity Jones in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen
Felicity, we started the season off so strong! I was hoping that she would wear something from the Valentino Couture Spring 2014 line, but it wasn't meant to be. This gown just looks so frumpy. I love the beading and embellishments at the top, but it all goes wrong at the skirt. This may be a dress that I look back at down the line and end up liking it, but for now its not working for me.

Award season is over and I am terribly sad. But next up, fashion week! Expect a New York Fashion Week post this week and also a new playlist and February favorites posts by the end of the month!
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
