I spent hardly any time actually watching the awards ceremony and spent most of my time looking at the red carpet fashion of last night's Grammy Awards!
Top looks of the night:
4. Haim in (from left to right) Chloe, Stella McCartney and Stella McCartney
These girls know how to dress and I was so excited to see their monochromatic, tailored looks. Each look fits their personality so well and they really wore the garments well. They were strong and bold and left the girls looking very sophisticated, but also edgy and it truly fit in with the style that Haim represents. I would wear any of those looks.
3. Gwen Stefani in Atelier Versace
She is truly timeless. Gwen Stefani is easily one of my style icons and when she stepped out in the straight off the runway couture look, I was so excited. Gwen is hardly ever in skirts or dresses so this all black pantsuit fits right in to her style. What I love the most about this look is her nude tone makeup and slicked back hair that really allow for the pant suit to speak for itself. It shows off her amazing figure and she oozed confidence on the carpet.
2. Taylor Swift in Elie Saab
I predicated yesterday morning that Taylor would hit the carpet in an Elie Saab piece and I was so pleased when I found it it was true! Elie Saab and Taylor are just a match made in heaven. The dresses she has worn in the past (HERE) have been some of my favorites ever and this was no exception. This gown is like a dream. The faded ombre is stunning against her skin tone and I love the shimmer of the fabric. While I am not a huge fan of high-low gowns, the train and draping of this piece is so dramatic and beautiful. The top of purple with the shoes is the icing on top. This is probably one of my favorite looks she has worn ever.
1. Rihanna in Giambattista Valli
I was watching E!'s coverage of the red carpet and she literally was one of the last people to arrive. I recognized this dress as soon as she stepped out and I got so excited (I almost started to cry). Giambattista Valli's spring couture line was one of my favorites and this dress was one I instantly fell in love with so when RiRi stepped out in it, it was just perfection. A lot of people are going to hate on this look and I have seen her on many worst dressed lists already, but I will forever remember and love this. All eyes were on her and she drew so much attention with this gown which makes me love it even more. It was unexpected for Rihanna since she hardly wears large gowns such as this, but it fit her wonderfully the candy pink color against her skin tone was just a dream. Her makeup was simple and her hair was slicked back so all eyes were on the dramatic piece - she truly looked like a princess!
Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) in Lanvin
I have a thing for bow ties and I love the slightly cropped pants with the loafers, it adds a classy touch.
Big Sean in Saint Laurent
I'm all about YSL and the all black attire is chic and is fitted to him perfectly.
John Mayer in ??
I haven't been able to track down who designed his tuxedo, but I just love his slightly blue tuxedo paired with those frames on his face.
Honorable mention:
Jhene Aiko in Alberta Ferretti
I love the collection this dress was from and she is just so effortless. The simply hair and smokey eye with this beautifully fitted dress makes her look so beautiful.
Kim Kardashian in Jean Paul Gaultier
I hate this and then I love it. I don't know what it is about this look, but it's so glamorous and over the top that I can't help but love it. Kim's simple beach waves compliment the very flashy gown that she wears so well. (Especially since I heard this gown weighed about 100 pounds! Yikes!)
Jessie J in Ralph and Russo
I love this look! Jessie J's red carpet has been a big back and forth for me, but this is a look I adore. It shows some skin without completely overdoing it and the dark lip and slicked back hair really compliments the beading and details on this gown. It shows off her great figure as well.
Worst dressed:
Miley Cyrus in Alexandre Vauthier
Ehhh, she just looks really confined in this dress - almost like it's some type of straight jacket. It does nothing for her amazing figure and the lack of makeup makes her look really tired. The cut outs are in such awkward places, it's just all wrong!
Meghan Trainor in Galia Lahav
This just looks like a bad prom dress. It does nothing to show her off wonderful figure and the lace appliqués are in such weird and awkward places. Just noooooo.
Charli XCX in Moschino
I'll give her some credit, she is very bold. I love Moschino to no end, but I feel like this look wasn't right for Grammys - it's fun, but just not right for the event. I probably would love liked the outfit a lot more if she would lose the fur. The shiny suit and the hot pink bow tie is a little cheesy in my opinion.
Nick Jonas in Versace
Maybe it's because I am a classic suit kind of girl, but this plaid look just isn't doing it for me. It's rather tight fitting and it looks like he is about to bust out of it in a second. It's just not his best look.
This week I will (hopefully) be getting posts up about my favorite looks from the BAFTAs, as well as my favorite spring couture lines so look out for that!
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
