2015 Billboard Music Awards

Honestly, this year's red carpet was kind of a bore for me, but I decided to share some of the outfits that caught my eye this time around. (Most of these outfits are by Balmain because Oliver ruled the night).

Top Looks of the Night:

Taylor Swift in Balmain
I was really surprised by this look at first. I was expecting her to wear a black gown or look since she was premiering her "Bad Blood" music video during the award shows and would want to go along with the style of the video. Taylor can't go wrong with a white garment and this pantsuit has the perfect balance between skin and fabric. For her tall figure, this look compliments her body shape and she was one of the best looks on the carpet that night. Her bad blood clutch bag was the perfect finishing detail.

Lily Aldridge in Balmain
I fell in love with this gown on the runway last season and for some reason, I just love the entire styling done on Lily. It is rather simple, but the purple color and stripes add a fun element and it breaks up the other black fabric of the gown. It just all works for me. From the sheer fabric of the skirt and contrast between the high slit and high neck, this is a gown that would look amazing on so many people and it truly looks incredible on Lily.

Olivia Culpo in Elie Saab
Olivia looks drop dead gorgeous in everything she wears and I love that she went of for this little romper for the event. It's casual, but still very elegant with the signature Elie Saab detailing and pattern. I wasn't a huge fan of the shoe straps at first, but it does add an extra element of surprise. The romper makes her look elegant without overdone because this wasn't really an event to wear super extravagant gowns. Her slicked back hair and smokey eyes brings it all together.

Honorable Mentions:

Kylie Jenner in Balmain
I thought this was a great look for Kylie because for the first time, it wasn't completely overdone. This is definitely a step up from her red carpet look last year. It's age appropriate while still fitting in with her aesthetic and style. I love that her hair and makeup were kept simple and the large gold belt really helps to show off her figure.

Zendaya in Fausto Puglisi
This is also the same designer she wore at this year's Met Gala and I was completely obsessed with the look (check it out here). It took me a while to warm up to this ensemble because it is a lot for the eyes to handle. The solid turquoise pops of colors with her earrings and shoes help to break up the patterns and embellishments on the pants and top. What I enjoy the most is the color scheme - by keeping it black and white and having colored details, it allows the look to be fun without totally distracting the eyes. It was definitely an appropriate look for the Billboards.

Kendall Jenner in Balmain (for H&M)
Oliver has teamed up with H&M and they will be releasing a series of garments for the retail store, including the one that Kendall is wearing. I was back and forth on it for a while because the slicked back hair really wasn't doing it for me. I wish it was up in a ponytail of some sort. However, the detailing of the top is true Balmain style and the black and white color scheme looks fresh and casual on Kendall. The size of the jacket as well as the styling of her hair and makeup throws me back to the 80's and I love it. Kendall could wear anything and I would love it quite honestly. (However, her BBMA look from last year was lightyears better than this one).

Worst dressed:

Jourdan Dunn in Balmain (for H&M)
This is another piece from the Balmain X H&M collab and I am not a huge fan of the styling. I love the top and I think it fits in with the signature Balmain style, but the rest is all wrong. The skirt makes her hips look very large and its not flattering at all. The thigh high boots and black tights cause the proportion and colors of the outfit to be really off and I think there are a hundred different ways this look could have been styled to look better. Jourdan is such a beautiful girl and has modeled in Balmain shows and worn so many pieces by the designer that this look just leaves me confused.

Hailee Steinfeld in Givenchy
When she first hit the carpet, I was so excited to see that she was in Givenchy because Cara wore this dress on the runway last season (here) and I fell in love with it. However, I soon realized that this wasn't the exact dress I saw on the runway and it started to fall apart from there. The trim of the dress has been changed to a black strip and mix that with the incredibly thick belt and the black shoes, it's starting to look like something you would see in a catalog (and this dress costs over $20,000). The dress itself is so beautiful and I think the alterations and styling that was done to it really makes it look cheap.

Rita Ora in Fausto Puglisi
I will give Rita the benefit of the doubt, this isn't the WORST thing I have seen her in on the carpet, but I still don't enjoy it. Again, I think it's the dress choice that makes this whole thing wrong for me. Rita's hair and makeup is stunning and while I do love the white fabric and signature Fausto Puglisi metallic suns, the cut of the dress isn't great. In photos even, you can tell Rita feels awkward in it and is worried about relieving things she doesn't want people to see. I don't love it, don't hate it - there is just something off about it all.

Hope all is well.
Just love me:
