Baby Bangs Are Back

Reasons Why:
I woke up Sunday needing a change. As I've mentioned in a few different hair blog posts, I tend to change something with my hair when I can feel a time of changing coming in my personal life. In this case, I woke up and looked in a mirror knowing that something needed to be different. The first wave of homesickness is starting to hit me and while baby bangs are a style I've had in the past, I feel a lot more like myself when I have them. I have refrained from getting them because so many of those close to have said they didn't like them, but what the heck? So with a pair of safety scissors and while watching behind the scenes clips of the making of Titanic, I cut away.

The cut was also made because I have a lot of hair breakage around my hairline from the toning and bleaching process my hair goes through every six - eight weeks so the bangs are to help mask the breakage and also give my hair more shape and volume.

The Past:
I first cut my baby bangs back in 2013 I believe and it was a spur of the moment thing I decided to do. I kept them for a few months before letting them grow up and they differed in lengths depending on how shitty the cut job I did on them was. I do recall one night cutting them horribly short at 3am. Ooops.

The Inspiration:
As most things in my life, Paramore's Hayley Williams was the main reason I decided to cut my bangs in the first place. I thought it was such a cool thing to do with a hairstyle that was incredibly easy to do to add a style to my hair. While I probably won't cut mine as short as her's were (I make no promises though), they are fun to have!

The Cut:
While I suggest using hair shears instead of safety scissors like I did, the key to getting baby bangs is being fearless and not afraid of cutting them a little too short or a little uneven. I spent about a half hour cutting mine slowly to get them to the length I wanted and while they aren't completely even, I actually prefer a little difference in length. It adds an edgier, messy appearance to them.

Hope all is well.
Just love me:

  1. You look beautiful with the bangs! I do the same thing with hair and personal changes except I change the color.
