It was a more music related month for me.
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer (in fair)
I picked this up at a Fred Meyer while on vacation because I ran out of my other concealer and decided to see if the hype around this was worth it. This product goes on incredibly well and is easy to blend. It's a very thick consistency so a little goes a long way, but it truly is a concealer that helps to hide my spots and even out my skin tone. I have been pairing this with my Maybelline BB cream this summer and it has been a perfect match! The only bone I have to pick with this product is the package! The black lettering on the tube rubs off easily and left my hands and fingers black the first few times I used it.
Aloe Vera Gel
This is just a standard skin item I think everyone should have. It's no secret that I have incredibly fair skin which means I burn super easily. Aloe vera has been my best friend when it comes to healing the parts of my skin that missed some sunscreen and got burned after like .2 seconds in the sun. I always use this product on dry skin and after shaving my legs because it helps to hydrate and smooth dry and irritated skin! It's super inexpensive and has so many different uses.
Philosophy's Renewed Hope In A Jar Foam Cleanser
I have been sneaking this from my mother all summer long and it's a product that leaves me super excited to wash my face everyday. While my holy grail cleanser will forever be Philosophy's Purity because I have been using that since I was like 12, this renewed product from Philosophy is incredible. It does an amazing job at not only breaking down makeup, but cleansing your skin to leave it soft and clean. It does tend to irritate my eyes if I don't remove all of the product from those areas after the first rinse, but it has an overall super gentle formula for my sensitive skin. I tend to use this when I am wearing a lot of face or eye makeup because it works fast to break it down.
FKA Twigs' M3LL155X
FKA Twigs is basically my queen and I was so excited when this album dropped. While her music taste isn't for everyone, her uniqueness and true sense of artistry really separates her from everyone else out there. No matter what mood I am in, I can listen her music and really enjoy it. Each song arrangement is its own and her vocal and lyrically talent blow competition out of the water. If you are looking for a new artist to check out, I highly suggest this album and FKA Twigs - it's her best release yet!
Listen to: "In Time" and "Figure 8"
Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby
I followed Melanie during her time on The Voice and have been listening to her music ever since. While this whole dollhouse pop genre has never been an area of music I have been interested in, her spin on modern issues and incorporation of childhood themes and objects created an incredibly unique sounding and versatile album. Cry Baby easily has her best batch of songs to date and as time goes on, it is clear that Melanie keeps on getting better and better with her song writing.
Listen to: "Sippy Cup" and "Training Wheels"
Little Mix's "Hair"
My babes are back with more new music and I am so excited. "Black Magic" blew me out of the water when it was released and I am still jamming everyday. This particular song had to grow on me first because the lyrical content is not as quality as I look for in a song. However, Little Mix's girl empowerment message comes through yet again with this song. It's incredibly catchy and is always stuck in my head. It's the perfect end of the summer tune and it gets me even more excited for the fall release of their third album, Get Weird.
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
