^That's my hair now!
The nerves of school were starting to get the best of me and when I get nervous and am sad (I don't want to leave my precious mother behind with an empty nest), I change my hair. Its something I learned that I do when I am down in the dumps about something, I have to completely change the hair on my head. Moving to college is a huge step for anyone and rather than deal with it in a normal way, I have to change something about myself. Its a way for me to deal with my social anxiety which I get on occasion. I am the type of person that is really shy towards people I don't know, but am completely loud and crazy around my close friends. Stepping out of my comfort zone is something I am terrible at, but am working on. So changing my hair for some reason makes me feel better. I don't know why I do it, but I guess it is a way for me to cope with the changes I am going through. This is probably the 35720935th hair color and style I have had, but its a color I have wanted for a really long time.
^Yes please.
After bleaching the brown side of my hair TWICE (ahhh) using Salon Care Blue Flash Powder and 30 developer, I looked like a Barbie for two days. And I also had my sister cut another inch and a half off my hair (I kissed four inches of my hair goodbye these past to weeks) and I toned it with Wella Color Charms T14 Pale Ash Blonde and left it on for like 45 minutes.
Hair tip! : One thing I didn't know is that when you bleach your hair and are preparing to tone it after, do it right after you bleach because your hair is porous and will take the toner better! I used to wait a few days before toning it, but I did it the next day after bleaching this time and the results were way better!
My hair still isn't 100% the color I want, but its nearly there. I currently have purple shampoo (Matrix So Silver Shampoo) sitting on my head for the next while. And I finally got around to ordering Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Shampoo and will let you guys know how that stuff works when it gets here! I also got a new conditioner that I have been leaving in my hair overnight - I will make a post about it soon!
Side note: And if you think your hair is too dark to ever reach a white/silvery tone - don't believe it! Because I did it!
A lot of people always ask me what my favorite hair color and style has been so I put together a little flashback segment of a few of the styles that have taken over my head these past few years.
(April 2010 - December 2010) February 2011 - August 2011 - Orange/red hair
This was the longest hair color I ever had that wasn't my natural color. I adored it, but I was re-dyeing it every three weeks or so (yikes!) because it faded really fast and my roots would come in. So I had to chop most of it off to keep my hair from falling out. This hair color called for split ends everywhere.
April 2012 - July 2012 - Subtle dark ombre
In August of 2011, I went back to having just dark hair and grew out the awful undercut (you will never see photos of that) I decided to get and I eventually ended up getting a little ombre as my hair continued to grow out.
August 2012 - Ombre and blue tips
Then I redid my ombre and dip dyed the tips blue (an action that caused me to have to bleach my ends six times and cut them off because the blue wouldn't come up).
November 2012 - December 2012 - Ombre and baby bangs
I decided to get baby bangs and I want to bring them back because I love them so much. They don't get in my eyes and they just work for me. This is probably one of my favorite hairstyles I had because my ombre was on point. But I decided to ruin it by bleaching all of my hair and then hating it and dyeing it back two days later.
December 2012 - January 2013
Yah, bye perfect ombre and hello trashed ends that look so dry in this photo! I kept my plain hair and really started to hate it. I can never just have brown hair, I feel to plain.
January 2013 - August 2013 - Split hair
My last hairstyle that I kept for the second longest time out of all of my hair colors. I really loved this when I had it, but the constant comments about that girl from The Voice and everything started to drive me insane and also, I hated that I couldn't have messy hair that was all over the place - my part had to stay down the middle and all that jazz.
August 2012 - when it decided to come out - Half mermaid hair
This is the best worst decision I have ever made. It was cool for about two weeks and then the colors wouldn't come out which eventually ended with me having to bleach it a bunch of times and just getting really frustrated. Blue hair dye never leaves my hair.....
