Gwen has been killing the game since the 90's. From colored hair, bindis, crop tops and more - her style has always stood out over the two decades she has been in the business. Some, including me, might say that her mark in the fashion world has been far more influential than that of the music industry.
So, I thought this would be a good (Woman Crush) Wednesday to show you guys the easy styling techniques Gwen uses to keep her rocker and chic street style strong.
Plaid
This is a pattern everyone should have in their wardrobe. As a testament to the 90's, plaid can easily be incorporated to dress down and even dress up an outfit. As seen on Gwen, she wears a variety of plaid pieces for a more casual look (the plaid shirt and pants) or to add her rock edge to a polished look (the jacket). It's a fun and easy pattern to play with and can easily be paired with simple and solid pieces to add a pop texture.
Distressed Denim
This is a fashion trend that will never go out of style. Whether fitted or baggy, a good pair of ripped up denim jeans is essential in every wardrobe. Pairing them with a good, strong black boot and strappy shoes is something she does frequently. Since the jeans speak very loudly, she pairs them with simple t-shirts and vests so the look doesn't look completely overdone or tattered from start to finish. It's casual, it's relax and you will also be damn comfy.
Colored/Patterned Pants
For those of you like Gwen (and me) who frequently wear solid colored tops, shoes and bags - a fun pair of pattern jeans is the piece to really add something into an outfit. Patterned pants can easily be over-styled, leaving people's eyes sore with everything that is going on, but Gwen lets them speak for themselves - always pairing a good pair of patterned pants with solid colored shoes, tops and jackets.
Big and Loud Coats
This is a style that I need to work on this fall and winter. Gwen always pairs her outfits (when the weather calls for it) in oversized and patterned coats. The pieces really add dramatic flare and class to the outfits she wears - and the style is definitely not something a lot of people think about. With coats especially, you can piece together an entire outfit of solids and allow for the expressive and loud jacket to speak for itself.
Hope all is well.
Just love me:
