Milan Fashion Week Part 1

And the Fashion Week coverage continues. Milan Fashion Week didn't WOW me as much as it has in the past and this is probably the city that won't have as many collections that caught my eye or made me weak in the knees as much as others (Paris Fashion Week is already blowing my mind). However, these first four collections had to be talked about! (Sorry if I am beginning to sound redundant)

Stella Jean

This was the first collection from Milan Fashion Week I had seen and I love the use of images and prints in this line. She had just vividly detailed and gorgeous images on most garments that really allowed for a story to be told - Stella Jean is an Italian-Haitian designer and it is very clear that she drew a lot of inspiration from Haiti which was a very unique concept for Milan Fashion Week. I love her use of print too - the giraffe texture, the plaid, the polka dots and the dramatic shapes and flow of the dresses allowed for a very relaxed look. It's clean, it's casual and it was a lot more laid back than many of the lines showcased that week.

This is my feminine and classic Spring/Summer collection choice for Milan Fashion Week. Everyone loves a good pastel or floral dress and this collection perfectly showcases that want - plus, it definitely has a Woodstock/flower child vibe weaved in it. The pastel mint and lavender show in this line are the perfect colors for the Spring/Summer, as is the clean white that was seen on many of the garments. What caught my eye the most about this collection is the contrast between light and heavy looks. You have the heavily embellished or patterned gowns versus the light and sheer looks - the contrast allows for a variety of opinions and tastes to find something to enjoy in this collection. For those that love a simply designed dress with small details to the theatrical critics who are searching for a look with a lot of different textures and fabrics - this is a collection of variety.

I just LOVE the incorporation of plaid in this collection. This is definitely one of the few very wearable and casual lines that were showcased in Milan this past week. I adore the baby doll cuts of the dresses and the clean cut lace trousers. I see this as a more wearable version of Marc By Marc Jacob's 2014 Spring/Summer RTW collection - these are pieces that could easily be added into your wardrobe. The styling is so casual and the mixing of the plaid, lace and colors causes there to be no need for over the top pieces. There is something in this collection that EVERYONE could wear. I completely adore the half sleeved jackets - they are the perfect median between the oversized winter coats you love and the Spring flannel shirts that are worn frequently. It has a very feminine look with rocker and masculine undertones.

Fendi

Karl Lagerfeld can do no wrong in my book - his collections with Chanel and Fendi never disappoint me and I was so looking forward to this collection. Casual and formal wear with both covered with this Fendi line - I am obsessed with the blue tones that were paired together with the light pinks and black and white. The colors complimented each other so well and really allowed the entire look to pop. We have dresses, we have skirts, we have trousers, we have DENIM - Fendi has it all. All of the spring essentials including statement leather jackets, denim on denim looks and strappy shoes are showcased in this collection. There was not a detail out of place - the hair and the makeup being two of my favorite things from all of Milan Fashion Week (check out the eyeliner, whoa). When I saw that there were feathers incorporated into this line, I was a little worried because I am not a fan of feathers in the slightest. However, the final looks that are almost completely feathers are flawless - the light shapes of each piece as well as the color tones (that pale pink though) really allow for the whole look to work and keeps the models from looking like Big Bird. This collection was fresh, well structured and classic Fendi.

My three favorite collections of Milan Fashion Week will be up tomorrow!

Hope all is well.
Just love me:
